Cork is fortunate to have a vibrant and active community and voluntary sector. These groups provide a range of services which greatly enhance the quality of life for all citizens of the City. The variety of services provided by community and voluntary groups is extensive – from sporting groups to meals on wheels, childcare services to environmental activities and residents’ associations.

This website brings together information which should be of help to community and voluntary groups. Its directory of community and voluntary groups, grant and funding guide and community events diary should also raise awareness among the general public of the variety of groups active in Cork City.

The Community Directory provides information about some of the many community and voluntary groups active in Cork City. It includes contact details and opening hours for each group listed, as well as a brief description of what they do and a handy map showing where they are based. Users can also search the directory for groups providing particular services.

Open4Community is a funding and support website for voluntary and community organisations. Updated daily this website provides you with the comprehensive coverage of government, lottery, EU, non government and charitable trust funding opportunities as well as grants only available in Cork City.

community and voluntary awards Lord Mayor’s Community and Voluntary Awards

Each year the contribution made by volunteers is celebrated in the Lord Mayor’s Community and Voluntary Awards. These awards have been established to recognise groups who, through their commitment to voluntary and community activity, have played a significant role in enhancing the quality of life of their communities.

 

Cork City Community Forum

The Community Forum is a major consultative mechanism for communities throughout Cork City. It provides an opportunity for the wider community sector to influence policy development and decision making. Established by Cork City Partnership in 1994, the Forum brings together some 200 community and voluntary groups. The Community Forum meets an average of 4 times per year. Members also participate in a number of issue-based networks, and receive regular information mailings.
