Saturday 7th 2010

  • Street Trading is transferred from Cornmarket Street to Emmett Place.

Monday 8th March 2010

  • William Street will be closed from 8.00 pm to 11.30 pm to facilitate crane work (Collins Ventilation).
  • Half moon Street will be closed from 8.00 pm to 6.30 am (Bowen Construction).
  • Lane Restrictions on Lavitts Quay from 8.00 pm to 6.30 am (Bowen Construction).
  • Possible delays on Model Farm Road from 8.00 pm to 3.00 am (Eircom).

Tuesday 9th March 2010

  • Possible delays Monahan’s Road from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm to facilitate reinstatement work (Murnane &O’Shea).
  • Possible delays on South Douglas Road from 8.00 pm to 12.00 midnight (Bowen Construction).

Wednesday 10th March 2010

  • Possible delays on Victoria Cross Road/Wilton Road from 8.00 pm to 3.00 am to facilitate reinstatement work (Cleary Doyle).

On Going Works

  • Cornmarket Street  one-way Northbound between Castle Street and Kyle Street to facilitate refurbishment works on Cornmarket Street (CLG).
  • Smith Street  closed due to reconstruction works (private contractor).
  • Grenville Place & Bachelor Quay one way system in place due to quay wall foundation repairs (Cork City Council).
  • Southern Road footpath closed due to wall collapse (private contractor).


Jack Lynch Tunnel – Temporary Maintenance Closure 14th - 17th April 2010

1. Notice is hereby given that a section of  the South Ring Road (N25) between Dunkettle Interchange and Mahon Interchange, including the Jack Lynch Tunnel & Tunnel Management Building /Little Island access road will be closed to normal traffic overnight for three successive nights as follows:

  • 08.00 pm on Wednesday 14th    until    07: 00 am on Thursday 15th
  • 08. 00 pm on Thursday  15th      until    07.00 hrs on Friday 16th 
  • 08.00 pm on Friday 16th             until    07.00 hrs on Saturday 17th

2. These closures are necessary to facilitate scheduled routine maintenance on the tunnel and its equipment. Cork City Council regrets any inconvenience that may occur. In between these overnight closures period i.e. during the day on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the N25 including the Tunnel and its approach roads will be open to traffic as normal.

3.  Alternative traffic routes are available via the city centre during the periods of closure as follows:

On the North side of the river, Southbound traffic should travel from the Dunkettle Interchange to the City Centre via the Tivoli dual carriageway and Lower Glanmire Road (N8), and then follow signs for the South Ring (N25) via the South City Link Road (N27).

On the Southern approaches to the Tunnel, Northbound traffic should travel via the  Kinsale Road Roundabout to the City Centre via the South City Link Road (N27), and then follow signs for Dublin (N8) and Waterford (N25) via Lower Glanmire Road.
